Content Complaint Procedure

For employers, individuals, or third parties who wish to raise concerns about specific content.

Who can raise a complaint?

Any of the following may submit a content complaint:

  • An employer or organisation named in a story
  • An individual who believes they are identifiable in a story
  • A third party whose confidential information may have been disclosed
  • Any community member who believes content violates our guidelines

What information is needed?

  • Your name, role, and relationship to the content
  • A business or verified email address (not published)
  • A direct link to or description of the specific content
  • The exact statements you are concerned about
  • Your reasons for the complaint
  • A summary of any evidence you can provide
  • The resolution you are requesting
  • A declaration that you are authorised to make the complaint

How we handle complaints

Received

Your complaint has been logged and acknowledged.

Risk review

The complaint is being reviewed for immediate risk.

Temporarily restricted

Content has been temporarily restricted while under review.

Awaiting author response

The content author has been asked to respond.

Under review

A moderator is actively reviewing the complaint.

Resolved

A decision has been reached and communicated.

Appealed

The decision is being reviewed on appeal.

Closed

The complaint process is complete.

Our content moderation principles

  • We do not auto-delete content merely because it is disputed
  • Content authors are given the opportunity to respond before major action is taken where appropriate
  • All moderation actions require an internal reason and create an audit log
  • High-risk content (threats, exposed personal data) may be temporarily restricted immediately pending review
  • You may appeal any moderation decision, which will be reviewed by a different moderator
